I do love my job, but it is not the best job ever.
A couple of weeks ago I was talking to this lady and she had mentioned that she had been stressed recently and wasn't getting good sleep. Somehow it came up that her stress was due to the fact that her daughter was pregnant at only 16 years old. She was devastated. She opened up to me that she was angry...Why HER daughter? They went to church. She raised her to love Jesus. She prayed. This wasn't supposed to happen. And it was tearing her up.
I listened and told her that this situation may be a surprise to her, but it wasn't a surprise to God. And even if a baby wasn't in the picture, her daughter was still living apart from God's protection as she was engaging in premarital sex. But the pregnancy brought out the situation into the light and made it seem so much worse. I shared with her the verse from Genesis where Joseph says his brothers meant it for evil but God used it for good. She surprised me and actually quoted the exact verse in Genesis and I knew this woman knew her Bible!
We talked more and I could sense the close walk she had with the Lord. I told her I would be praying for her and her daughter...and her little grand baby. She said her daughter didn't seem to know what a big deal this was. And she was angry at her for 'messing up'. I told her that God may use this baby and difficult situation to bring her daughter closer to Him. I reminded her that God has great plans for her life. And her daughter's life. And a plan for this new life, her grandchild.. And after all, we all mess up!
She started crying saying she knew God had but me in her path that morning. I was in awe! This was the best feeling in the world...to be used by God. I didn't know God had been using me until she told me, and it was awesome!
Thank you Lord, that we get to be part of your work here on earth. When God's love and His word is flowing through us, we can't help but spill over into other people's lives. And when you are used by God, you will know that it had nothing to do with you...and EVERYTHING to do with Him.
Genesis 50:20
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now
being done, the saving of many lives.
